Midnite Branch I is a branch off of the Midnite tree, made up of the group's lead singer Vaughn Benjamin, bassist Phillip Merchant and drummer Dion Hopkins. Midnite Branch I released its first project, "The Cipharaw", on Glamorous Records in early 2002. The
premier reggae website, www.ireggae.com, writes that, "The Cipharaw" is laden with brutally thick bass lines, accentuating jazzy rhythms and horns. Vaughn Benjamin's poignant lyrics are superimposed over these tempos in his own unique style. This album has something different to offer each listener, and like all of Midnite's music, "The Cipharaw" seems to offer something different each time you listen to it. "Geoman" is the much anticipated follow-up to this groundbreaking album.

While firmly rooted in the roots reggae tradition, Midnite Branch I's work on Geoman cannot be easily categorized, as it draws on creative musical inspiration and sonic elements from a wide range of genres. The sound is grounded with the rock-solid drum and bass grooves that Midnite is known for. Added to this are the highly creative use of a range of instruments including guitars, organs, pianos, horns, harps and hand drums. Geoman has 15 new songs with a range of tempos and feels. The music on the album creates the perfect atmosphere for Vaughn Benjamin's singularly unique lyrics and vocals. No comparisons can be made, one simply has to experience it.
